I'm Duncan Ness, founder of Ness Nutrition. I help MMA, boxing, BJJ, and wrestling athletes make weight with structured fight camp nutrition, evidence-based weight-cut systems, and clear rehydration plans.

I combine a background in Foods & Nutrition, graduate training in Clinical Nutrition, and real combat sports experience to build practical systems fighters can actually follow during camp.

Common questions.

Yes, but the plan has to account for your training load, weigh-in timeline, and current body composition. The goal is not just to make the scale drop. The goal is to keep you fueled enough to train hard while bringing your weight down strategically.
Most fighters need 6–12 weeks depending on how much weight they need to lose. The earlier we start, the less aggressive the cut has to be. The goal is to avoid relying on desperate fight-week tactics to make weight.
Yes. If your sport requires a weigh-in, I build the fight-week plan around your weigh-in time, weight class, training schedule, sauna access, and rehydration window. This can include food volume, carbs, sodium, fluid intake, and passive sweating when appropriate.
Not forever. Most athletes track closely at the start so we can establish accurate targets. Once the plan is dialed in, many athletes move to a more flexible meal-based structure with weekly check-ins and adjustments.
Most athletes need 10–15 minutes per day for tracking, updates, and communication, plus one weekly check-in. The system is built to reduce confusion during camp, not add more stress.
Combat sports are my specialty, especially MMA, boxing, BJJ, and wrestling. I also work with athletes who need to improve body composition while maintaining performance, but the main focus of this coaching is fight camp nutrition and weight cuts.
